Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Training Excellence (Clinical), the Regional Nurse Educator is responsible for supporting our Field Nurses, Nursing and Clinic management team by demonstrating performance excellence in the delivery of nursing education for a specific geographical region. The Regional Nurse Educator is primarily responsible for remote support of Field Nurses by providing training/education on specialized infusion/injection therapies for oncology, auto-immune and rare disease patients in Innomar clinics and/or homecare settings. The Regional Nurse Educator is also responsible for collaborative, cross-functional education projects involving disease state curriculum design and delivery that enhances clinical knowledge across the organization. The Regional Nurse Educator plays a key role in the assessment of Field Nurse critical thinking skills and knowledge competencies to ensure safe and competent nursing practice.   • Exhibits a strong understanding of company services, client base, and program support tasks required to support a patient’s journey through the private healthcare sector
  • Participates daily in telephone consultations and/or web based meetings/training sessions with Field Nurses within their geographical area or across Canada
  • Develops expert knowledge on the administration of biologics, biosimilars and specialty drugs by actively participating in all launch and client-provided education seminars as well as self-directed study.
  • Leads selected drug launches, driving the process of training material planning and development, in collaboration with the company launch team and an instructional designer
  • Ensures education of nurses achieves compliance with Innomar standard operating procedures, Canadian Nursing Association best practices guidelines and Provincial professional nursing standards for RNs, LPN/RPNs
  • Collaborates with the Business Area Managers in Nursing in “onboarding” new Field Nurses and the recommendation of individualized learning plans
  • Acts as a resource for all Field Nurses to grow in proficiency and confidence regarding molecule specific standard operating procedures, work instructions and disease state understanding to optimize patient health outcomes
  • Identifies new and ongoing training needs within assigned region by evaluating the quality and safety of care through ongoing evaluation of training effectiveness, gaps in practice, and feedback from Field Nurses, Managers or Program stakeholders. Serves in a consultative role to the business, making recommendations as required.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Training Excellence (Clinical), works to develop and implement educational materials, nursing competency assessment tools, evaluation tools and critical thinking case studies reflecting evidence informed practices that support remote learning across the organization
  • Works collaboratively with other Regional Nurse Educators to ensure training cost efficiencies are realized with product and disease state training for each new molecule launch
  • Represents the client and our company to associates and the public by demonstrating professionalism through appearance, attitude, and communication
  • Makes decisions using sound clinical judgment and takes initiative with minimal direction
  • Manages multiple competing priorities to meet established deadlines demonstrating organizational savvy and quality work/project results.
  • Monitors updates from leading nursing experts, industry trends and professional practice groups within their regions and reports to the education and nursing management teams
  • Actively participates in weekly team meetings with the Training Excellence (Clinical) department
  • Represents the professional role of private sector nurses to their professional peers and specialty associations
  • Adheres to professional nursing standards as prescribed by the professional associations and the company
  • Performs related duties and tasks as required

Job Requirements

  • Qualified registered nurse (valid provincial license from the College of Nurses)
  • Healthcare provider CPR certificate required
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse with experience being a nurse educator, clinical resource, preceptor, or mentor to other health care professionals
  • 3 years of regular IV initiation and infusion experience
  • Experience in a critical care, emergency, acute care inpatient/outpatient or homecare setting are considered assets
  • ACLS education, CVAA Certification, and central venous lines/port experience are considered assets
  • Flexibility in order to provide services for pre-scheduled meetings, training sessions, mentorship/support activities, and occasional last minute requests
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and car insurance
