Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
 
Under direction of the Vice President of Finance, the Controller directs and has immediate responsibility for the organization’s accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports. Directs and has overall Supervisory responsibility for financial performance analysis and reporting, accounting, budgeting and forecasting for the division. Have the direct supervision of the accounting team.

 
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Administers general accounting for the division and its operating business units.
  • Consolidates capital assets, maintenance and company operating budgets; checks appropriation requests against approved budgets for availability of funds prior to commitment, and exercises accounting control to insure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized.
  • Interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the division and makes specific recommendations, which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
  • Exercises supervision over the maintenance of the company chart of accounts; assigns new classifications and cost stations as may be necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for the correct and accurate accounting classification of all expenditures and documents, including capital and other.
  • Acts as the immediate contact with the company’s independent auditors on accounting matters.
  • Directs the preparation of periodic and yearly financial statements, including the preparation of charts and graphs showing progress, conditions and results.
  • Frequently interacts with senior management to apprise of Company’s accounting practices, fiscal records and financial reports.
  • Frequently interacts with General Managers to provide direction, counsel and assistance in matters affecting the Company’s financial position and performance.
  • Manages the day to day AR and AP activities and staff of accounting professionals
  • Responsible for the growth and development of team.
  • Assists in internal and external auditors on the audits of the financial statements.
  • Performs other duties as required.





Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor’s degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in accounting, budgeting, credit collections and financial analysis, five (5) of which must have been at a management level; CPA licensure in state of practice.



MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have expert level skills with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of BaaN, Crystal and PRISM
  • Leverages excellent communication skills to clearly identify and articulate cause, effect and recommendations
  • Thought leader who works beyond the numbers to help business leaders address and anticipate issues and opportunities based upon a thorough understanding of the objectives of the business
  • Ability to focus efforts at an appropriate level of detail without becoming mired
