Job Description

The Specialty Nursing Manager reports directly to the Nursing Regional Business Leader (RBL) and has the overall responsibility for the coordination of nursing services for his/her assigned team of regional Field Nurses. In this leadership position, the Specialty Nursing Manager provides support, training, and supervision to ensure the highest level of quality patient care, that program requirements are met, and that the College of Nurses standards are maintained. The Specialty Nursing Manager is also responsible for implementing processes to optimize efficiencies and staffing, control expenses, and to ensure collaboration between the nursing team and other divisions of Innomar Strategies.  

What You’ll Do:
  • Manages a remote team of Field Nurses within assigned geographical territory
  • Monitors demand for clinic and nursing services to ensure adequate resource availability to meet customer and patient care services required within assigned region
  • Achieves Key Performance Indicators for clinic and nursing operations, including budget and expense controls
  • Maintains a high level of excellence through audits of clinics and nursing, including protocols and on-site visits
  • Manages clinic growth opportunities including site identification and establishing new clinic sites
  • Provide ongoing management, annual performance reviews, objective-setting and training planning for all direct reports; including liaising with Human Resources as necessary
  • Coordinates nurse scheduling with Scheduling Coordinators to ensure maximal efficiency and utilization of resources
  • Coordinates all requested clinic visits/tours
  • Participates regularly in telephone consultations and/or web based meetings/training sessions to share information, and uphold professional practice standards
  • Consults with physicians, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients regarding education and implementation of product specific programs
  • Actively establishes and strengthens relationships with KOLs and specialist treatment centers (e.g. Oncology, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology, etc.) within assigned region through participation as a member of associated project teams as well as key pharmaceutical and physician/clinic customers
  • Liaising with other Managers, Field Case Managers, Senior Managers and Directors to create and implement a team approach to service delivery and planning to ensure optimal customer service and seamless program execution in the field, as well as key pharmaceutical and physician/clinic customers
  • From time to time the Specialty Nursing Manager may be called upon to provide specialized infusion/injection therapies and nursing services to oncology, auto-immune, rare disease and other therapeutic areas to patients in outpatient clinics or homecare settings
  • Travel as required throughout assigned territory and to head office for management meetings

Job Requirements

  • BScN/equivalent; Registration with the College of Nurses of New Brunswick
  • CVAA certification an asset
  • BCLS required, ACLS required
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years nursing experience
  • Minimum 2 – 5 years of management experience or related experience in managing and guiding people
  • Excellent clinical skills as a nurse including IV initiation, physical assessment, autonomy
  • Experience in nurse training & education; nursing management is required
  • Experience working with the biotechnical/pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Proficient presentation skills
  • Availability and willingness to travel as per business need
  • Hold and maintain a valid, non-expired, unrestricted driver’s license
  • Bilingualism is a requirement
